The Short Version

Counsel Stack, Inc. ("we," "us") builds citation verification tools for legal professionals. This website exists to tell you about that. These terms govern your use of this website — not our actual products and services, which are covered by separate agreements that involve real signatures and real lawyers.

By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, we respect that, but you should probably close this tab.

1. What This Website Is

This is a marketing and informational website for Counsel Stack. We describe our products, publish content, and occasionally say things we think are interesting about legal technology. Nothing on this website constitutes legal advice. We verify citations for a living, not dispense counsel. The irony is not lost on us.

2. What This Website Isn't

This website is not the Service. Our citation verification platform, API, research engines, and everything that actually does the work — that's governed by separate Order Documents and license agreements between us and our customers. If you're a customer looking for your terms, these aren't them.

3. Intellectual Property

Everything on this website — the text, design, graphics, logos, and that one illustration we're unreasonably proud of — belongs to Counsel Stack unless otherwise noted. You're welcome to read it, share links to it, and quote it with attribution. You're not welcome to scrape it, clone it, or pass it off as your own.

4. User Conduct

Don't do anything illegal with our website. Don't try to hack it. Don't use it to send spam. Don't attempt to reverse engineer anything. These are low bars and we believe in you.

5. Third-Party Links

We may link to third-party websites, tools, or resources. We don't control them, we don't endorse them (unless we say we do), and we're not responsible for their content or practices. Click at your own discretion.

6. Disclaimers

This website is provided "as is." We make no warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the content. We do our best to keep things current, but we're a small team and sometimes the blog post is from last quarter.

We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of this website. If reading our terms of service somehow causes you harm, the situation has gone sideways in ways none of us could have predicted.

7. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We won't send you a push notification about it. The effective date at the top will reflect the most recent version. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes acceptance.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Pennsylvania. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We hope it never comes to that over a website terms page.
