Privacy Policy

Effective Date: February 1, 2026

The Short Version

We collect very little data from this website. We use Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns and a calendar widget so you can book time with us. We don't sell your data. We don't have a data broker side hustle. We build citation verification tools and that keeps us plenty busy.

1. Who We Are

Counsel Stack, Inc. ("we," "us," "our") operates this website at counselstack.com. We're a legal technology company that builds citation verification infrastructure. This Privacy Policy explains what happens to your information when you visit our website.

This policy covers the website. Our actual products and services have their own data handling terms in separate agreements with our customers. If you're a customer, your Order Document and service agreement govern how we handle your data — not this page.

2. What We Collect

Information you give us. If you fill out a contact form, book a meeting through our calendar widget, sign up for a newsletter, or email us, we collect whatever you provide — typically your name, email address, and company. We asked for it, you gave it to us, and we'll use it to respond to you.

Information collected automatically. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this website. This collects standard analytics data: pages visited, time on site, referral source, general geographic region, browser type, and device information. Google Analytics uses cookies. If you'd like to opt out, Google provides a browser add-on for that.

Calendar widget. We use a scheduling tool (e.g., Calendly or similar) to let you book meetings with us. When you book a meeting, the widget provider collects your name, email, and scheduling preferences under their own privacy policy. We receive the booking details so we can show up to the meeting.

That's the full list. We don't use tracking pixels, retargeting cookies, fingerprinting, or any of the more creative surveillance mechanisms the internet has produced.

3. How We Use It

  • To respond to you when you reach out via contact form or email.
  • To show up to meetings you book through our calendar widget.
  • To understand website traffic so we know which pages are useful and which ones need work.
  • To send you updates if you opted into a newsletter (you can opt out anytime).
  • To comply with the law if we're ever required to.

We don't use your data for advertising. We don't build behavioral profiles. We don't sell, rent, or trade your information. We are profoundly uninterested in monetizing your browsing habits.

4. Who We Share It With

Google — via Google Analytics — receives anonymized usage data. Their privacy policy applies to their handling of that data.

Our calendar widget provider receives meeting booking information. Their privacy policy governs their handling of that data.

Hosting and infrastructure providers that run this website may process data as part of normal web hosting operations.

Law enforcement or regulators if required by law, subpoena, or court order. We'll notify you first if we're legally permitted to do so.

5. Cookies

We use cookies for Google Analytics. If you want to block it, your browser's cookie settings or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on will handle it. We don't use cookies for advertising, tracking across sites, or remembering that you looked at our pricing page three times (though we'd be flattered).

6. Data Retention

Contact form submissions and email correspondence are retained for as long as the business relationship or inquiry is active, plus a reasonable period thereafter. Google Analytics data is retained according to Google's standard retention settings. Calendar bookings are retained by the widget provider per their policies.

When we no longer need your data, we delete it. There's no complex retention schedule because there's not much data to retain.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data. You can also object to processing or request that we restrict it.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at ai@counselstack.com. We'll respond within 30 days. We won't make you fill out a seven-page form or navigate a dark pattern to do it.

We don't sell personal information. We haven't sold personal information. We don't plan to start.

8. Security

This website is served over HTTPS. We use reasonable security measures appropriate for a marketing website. We're not storing your medical records here — but we still take security seriously.

9. Children

This website is not directed at anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from minors. If you're under 18 and somehow reading a legal technology company's privacy policy, we're impressed by your initiative but please come back later.

10. International Visitors

This website is hosted in the United States. If you're visiting from outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. By using the website, you consent to this transfer. If you're in the EU or UK, such transfers are made with appropriate safeguards under applicable data protection law.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top tells you when it was last revised. Material changes will be noted on this page. We won't bury them in paragraph 47(b)(iii).

12. Contact

Counsel Stack, Inc. Email: ai@counselstack.com

If you're in the EU or UK and have concerns, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We hope it doesn't come to that, but we understand the option is important.

This policy applies to the counselstack.com website. Data handling for Counsel Stack products and services is governed by separate agreements.
